When we hit, sparks fly from the asphalt out on the strip. Your head's too deep to land in though, so we slide. And we'll slide forever if we have time. This bed's too steep to climb out of. Sometimes I like it, but I can't decide if it's real, or if it matters. And sometimes I lie, but the truth is a word that we made up. What's the point complaining? They just created us. It takes some time to process but it don't take long to forget, if you want.
But we must be making progress, I guess, because I've tried blanketing the noise. The static in my headphones read it's prose with rare poise, but I was coy. I don't really open up to disembodied voices. There's no point. I'd rather go insane a way that I enjoy. Stay distracted if you can though, 'cause when the end don't come, I know we'll give it up and you will give them what they want. It's just a feeling I got, that maybe we're inside of somebody else's daydream, not wondering what they mean. Shouting my name or sitting there in silence interpreting our daydreams. I don't know what they mean, but that's not saying nothing.
